Individual Therapy
“Know thyself” — An ancient Greek maxim reading us that lasting change begins with understanding ourselves.
What is Individual Therapy?
Individual therapy is a one-on-one counseling experience where you work collaboratively to better understand yourself, navigate life's challenges, and create meaningful, lasting change. It provides a confidential, supportive space to explore your thoughts, emotions, relationships, and experiences without judgment. Whether you're facing a specific concern or simply feeling stuck, therapy can help you gain clarity, process difficult experiences, develop healthier coping strategies, and build a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
At Mindful Sessions, I believe that lasting change comes from understanding—not just managing—what's happening beneath the surface. While therapy can provide relief from symptoms such as anxiety, depression, stress, or relationship difficulties, our work goes beyond simply treating the symptoms. Together, we'll explore the patterns, beliefs, emotions, and life experiences that have shaped the way you think, feel, and respond today. As you gain insight into these patterns, you'll have greater freedom to make choices that align with the life and relationships you want to create.
How I can help.
I draw from several evidence-based therapies, selecting the approach that best fits your goals rather than asking you to fit into one therapy model. These evidence-based therapies include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and attachment-focused therapy. This allows treatment to be personalized to your unique goals, personality, and experiences rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model.
Individual therapy can help if you're experiencing:
Anxiety, chronic stress, or feeling overwhelmed
Trauma, PTSD, or difficult life experiences that continue to affect you
Relationship difficulties, communication challenges, or unhealthy relationship patterns
Grief, loss, or major life transitions
Depression, emotional numbness, or feeling disconnected from yourself
Low self-esteem, perfectionism, or persistent self-criticism
Burnout, people-pleasing, or difficulty setting healthy boundaries
Difficulty regulating emotions or understanding why certain situations feel so activating
A desire for greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and personal growth
Healing is possible.
Whether we're processing trauma through EMDR, exploring different parts of yourself through IFS-informed work, strengthening emotional flexibility through ACT, or identifying relationship patterns rooted in attachment experiences, our work will always be guided by your goals, your pace, and what feels most supportive for you.
The goal of therapy isn't simply to reduce anxiety or make difficult emotions disappear. It's to help you build a life where you feel more grounded, more connected, and more confident in yourself. Clients often leave therapy with a greater understanding of why they think, feel, and respond the way they do, stronger relationships, healthier boundaries, increased emotional resilience, and a deeper sense of authenticity.
Healing isn't about becoming someone new—it's about removing the barriers that have kept you from fully being yourself. Through individual therapy, you can learn to respond to life's challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and self-compassion while creating meaningful, lasting change that extends into every area of your life.
